Getting around Charlevoix without your own vehicle can be quite complex. Public transit is still under development in the region and many areas are not yet covered. Here’s a quick guide to help you better understand your options.

Changes may occur without our knowledge. Please take the time to organize your visit and validate the information below with the various companies/organizations concerned.

Montreal/Quebec Charlevoix region (e.g.: Baie-Saint-Paul or La Malbaie)

The Intercar intercity bus company connects Quebec City and Montreal with the Charlevoix region. Contact them to find out more about their offered routes. Tel: 1-800-806-2167 Website: https://intercar.ca/fr/horaires-et-trajets

For a scenic and touristic experience, from Quebec City (Parc de la Chute Montmorency), you can also board the Train de Charlevoix and travel to Baie-Saint-Paul or La Malbaie. Contact them to find out more about their schedules and routes. Tel: 418-240-4124 Website: https://traindecharlevoix.com/

The Orléans Express intercity bus company also offers many routes from several different regions. Visit their website to find out more about what they offer: https://www.orleansexpress.com/fr/

Quatre Natures also offers a shuttle service linking some of Charlevoix’s most important points to Quebec City, including the Traversée de Charlevoix (via the route towards the Parc National des Grands Jardins or Parc des Hautes Gorges). You can contact them via their website for routes and timetables. A minimum number of people is required for the shuttle to run.  https://quatrenatures.com/navette/

Baie-St-Paul/Saint-Urbain Office of the Traversée de Charlevoix

It is possible for us to provide you with a shuttle service from an agreed location in Baie-St-Paul or St-Urbain to the Traversée office. To do so, you must contact us at least 2 weeks in advance by e-mail or phone to discuss a suitable route. In certain situations (e.g.: unavailability of our team for your desired date), we may not be able to provide this service. There are fees for this service.

For weekday trips only, it is possible to reserve a spot (minimum 48 hours in advance) with Mobilité Collective Charlevoix for the on-demand trip from Baie Saint-Paul to the Église de Saint-Urbain. Spots are limited and you’ll need to find a way to cover the remaining distance between the Saint Urbain church and the Traversée de Charlevoix office (e.g. Traversée shuttle, carpooling or hitchhiking).

Office of the Traversée ZEC/Dôme

A Traversée de Charlevoix employee can provide you with a lift from the Traversée office to the start of your hike, either to the Dôme parking lot or to the ZEC des Martres reception (depending on your chosen itinerary). Please contact us at least 2 weeks in advance by e-mail or by phone to discuss how the service will work. In certain situations (e.g.: unavailability of our team for your desired date), we may not be able to provide this service. There are fees for this service.

You can also carpool with another hiker who has booked a vehicle transfer service. A Facebook group has been set up to enable hikers to communicate with each other.

Hautes-Gorges La Malbaie/Baie-Saint-Paul

POSSIBILITY 1 :  

You can take a cab from the Parc National des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie to the municipality of Saint-Agnès, near the town of Clermont in the Charlevoix-East region. You can contact La Malbaie cab service at 418-617-7777 or the Baie-Saint-Paul taxi service at 418-435-5457. A few Saturdays during the summer, Mobilité Collective Charlevoix offers a shuttle service (Saturdays only) between Parc des Hautes Gorges and La Malbaie. Please check their schedule and availabilities.

The Intercar bus company also offers routes from La Malbaie or Saint-Agnès to Baie-Saint-Paul. The same bus can take you as far as Quebec City or Montreal. POSSIBILITY 2 (during the week only):

POSSIBILITY 3 :

Grand-Fonds  → La Malbaie/Baie-Saint-Paul

POSSIBILITY 1 : 

It is possible to take a cab between Mont Grand-Fonds and La Malbaie. You can contact La Malbaie cab service at 418-617-7777.

From La Malbaie, you can take an Intercar bus to Baie-St-Paul. The same bus will take you to Montreal, making several stops in different towns. POSSIBILITY 2 (during the week only) :

Then, from La Malbaie, you can take the InterMonts or InterFleuve route from La Malbaie to Baie-Saint-Paul with Mobilité Collective Charlevoix. These routes are only available during the day. Saint-Siméon La Malbaie/Baie-Saint-Paul

The Intercar intercity bus company makes a stop in St-Siméon where you can hop on at the end of your hike. This bus can take you as far as Baie-St-Paul, but also to Quebec City and Montreal.

Also, (weekdays only), Mobilité Collective Charlevoix offers an on-demand ride (book 48 hours in advance) from St-Siméon to La Malbaie, then you can take the InterMonts or InterFleuve ride from La Malbaie to Baie-Saint-Paul.
