The Taïga

The rustic cabin Le Taïga lives up to its name. Just a short distance from the Caribou and the Écureuil cabins, you will be surprised by the carpets of moss and lichens and the alpine vegetation that surround it.

Rates (until Labor day 2024)

Spring (Easter to St-Jean Baptiste)

  • Sunday to Thursday: $75 per night
  • Friday and Saturday: $83 per night (min: 2 nights)

Summer (St-Jean Baptiste to Labor Day)

  • Sunday to Thursday: $80 per night
  • Friday and Saturday: $88 per night (min: 2 nights)

Fall – Winter (Labor Day to Easter)

  • Sunday to Thursday: $93 / night
  • Friday and Saturday: $104 / night (min: 2 nights)

Holidays

  • Holidays (St-Jean-Baptiste, Canada Day, etc.), the holiday season (December 20 to January 6), and the spring break (February 27 to March 10): the weekend rate applies at all times, and a minimum of 2 consecutive nights is required.

Base rate per night – Exclusivity in cabins for 1 or 2 people.
Taxes not included unless indicated otherwise.

Aditional person fees:
Adult : 12 $ / nuit
6 à 16 years-old : 6 $ / night
0 à 5 years-old : free

Prices include the use of propane, lighting and firewood.

The Zec charges a vehicle access fee for the use of the road leading to Lac-à-l’Écluse where the Caribou, Taïga, and J-P Cadot cabins are located.

Access

Summer

In the summer, the cabin is a 400-meter walk from the Lac à l’Écluse parking lot.

Winter

In the winter, the cabin is approximately 4 km away by snowshoe or ski from the Zec des Martres reception since the road is closed to vehicles during the winter period.

Activities

The cabin is located near the starting point of several highly appreciated trails, such as the Mont du Four and Lac à l’Empêche trail and the Sommets trail, to name a few.

Equipment provided

  • Slow combustion stove
  • Firewood
  • 2-burner propane stove
  • Solar and propane lamps on the ground floor
  • 6 foam mattresses with vinyl covers
  • Table and benches
  • Composting toilet
  • Shovel and axe
  • Pots and pans
  • Basic kitchen utensils (ladle, spatula, knife, strainer, cutting board, etc.)
  • Tableware: plates, bowls, cups, utensils
  • Dishwashing bin
  • Household products (dish soap, surface disinfectant, hand sanitizer)

Each group must bring:

  • Dish towels
  • Scrubbing sponge
  • Toilet paper
  • Matches and fire starter or newspaper
  • Sleeping bag

Important information

There is no running water in our cabins or shelters, but they are all located near bodies of water: lakes, rivers, streams. La Traversée recommends treating water by either filtering it, using specific disinfectant products, or boiling it for ten minutes.

You must take all your waste with you.
